**Statement from the office of Bishop Scott Grey, DTH, Presiding Bishop of Trinity Holy Church Conference**
It is with a heavy heart that we acknowledge the passing of Pope Francis at 7:35 this morning, as he transitioned to Heaven. His life was a testament to compassion, humility, and a deep commitment to serving the marginalized. Pope Francis was a beacon of hope, leading the Catholic Church toward a more progressive and inclusive future. His unwavering dedication to social justice, environmental stewardship, and interfaith dialogue has inspired not only Catholics but people of all faiths and backgrounds.
Pope Francis often reminded us of the importance of love and unity, echoing the words that encourage us to live in harmony: "And above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness." His leadership challenged traditional norms, inviting us to embrace a more compassionate and understanding perspective that resonates with the teachings of Jesus Christ.
As we mourn his loss, we extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends. We are reminded of the scripture that provides solace in times of grief: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." We stand in solidarity with the Catholic community and all who were touched by his profound influence.
In this time of transition, we pray for the Church as it seeks to elect a new pope who will continue to lead with a spirit of progressiveness, ensuring that the Church remains a welcoming place for all. While our paths may differ as Protestants, we affirm that there is but one Church, united in faith through our Lord Jesus Christ. As He said, "Let us come together in the unity of the faith," we are called to embrace our common mission to spread love and understanding.
In closing, let us honor the legacy of Pope Francis by committing ourselves to the principles he championed. May we all strive to reflect the love of Christ in our lives and communities, fostering an environment of acceptance and grace. Our prayers are with the Church, that it may continue to move forward on the path of inclusivity and hope.

This website highlights the ministry of our presiding bishop, Bishop Scott Grey. A devoted pastor and dynamic leader, Bishop Grey is also a gifted preacher, teacher, gospel singer, musician, and author. His unwavering dedication to sharing the Word has led to the publication of 15 ministry-related books. Over the course of nearly 40 years, he undertook the monumental task of translating the entirety of the Bible, resulting in the Modern Standard Version—the world’s first affirming translation. This groundbreaking work reflects our ongoing commitment to inclusivity and understanding on our journey of faith.
At Trinity Holy Church Conference, we take pride in being a welcoming and affirming community. Our congregations are small but diverse, embracing people from all walks of life. We believe everyone has a place at the Lord’s table, and all who feel called to lead should be given the opportunity to do so. While our worship is deeply rooted in tradition, our message is contemporary and anchored in Christ’s teachings: to love God, love our neighbors, and embody kindness, understanding, compassion, empathy, generosity, and hospitality.
As a progressive Christian denomination, we recognize the importance of reexamining certain aspects of our faith to create a more inclusive and loving community. However, let us be clear: while we may deconstruct traditions, the foundation remains untouched. We hold steadfast to the unchanging truths of Christianity. The church may look different today, but our commitment to God’s love, grace, and truth is unwavering.
In these times, it is heartbreaking to see divisions arise, with some labeling others as enemies simply because they love, think, or believe differently. While we celebrate the gospel of inclusion, we must remain vigilant against subtle exclusions that can hide within it. True inclusion does not mean compromising core beliefs but instead embracing the essence of Christ’s love while holding firm to our values. As scripture reminds us, "the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life." It is the spirit of love that breathes life into our faith.
As we face these uncertain times, let us do so with courage, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to our mission: to uplift every soul and create a community where all are welcome. Together, grounded in love and unwavering faith, we will forge a path forward.
Blessings to you all, and once again, welcome! We hope you’ll visit us often and walk this journey with us.
