About Bishop Scott Grey, Dth

After almost 40 years in the ministry, Bishop. Grey continues to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Gospel Music and preaching. He is totally commitment to serving Christ and serving the message of Christ to the people. His lifelong love of gospel music continues to be a driving force in in his ministry.

As a teenager, Bishop Grey spent most of his time playing piano, singing, studying and preaching under the direction of his then pastor, Rev. Edith Paige. When he answered his call to the ministry in 1987, Bishop Grey entered the Ministers In training Program. He was licensed to preach later that same year. In 1989 Bishop Grey was ordained. He would go on to further his education because he had noticed there were a lot of things that were being preached that didn’t set right with him. “I began to see that the Good News of Jesus Christ really wasn’t good news at all. It was if you don’t look like, think like, believe like, go to the same church as, if there are any differences, then you are excluded and damned to spend an entreaty in Hell. The messages that were being taught were a message of hatred, judgment, condemnation and exclusion. And they were using scriptures to promote their views. So, I began to look at the scriptures and what I found was shocking. I began to look at the way the Bible was translated and I had a desire to study to find the proper translation so I decided to go to college and I attended Grace Baptist Institute, East Carolina Seminary and World Christianship Theological Bible College where I earned a Doctorate in Theology.” For 32 years Bishop Grey has worked on translating the entire Bible and it was completed in April of 2021. The translation is titled The English Reformation Bible.

Bishop Grey has pastored five churches and still pastors today. Earlier in is ministry he traveled and sang with quartet Gospel groups including, Harvest Time, The Gospeletts, Heaven’s Harmony, True Grace, and Redemptionland. He also has sang with the late (Bishop) Rev. FC Barnes, the late Dr. Farrell Osborne, Rev. Tommy Hagen, Rev. Ralph Guinn, and Shirley Edwards. He has recorded several albums and is currently working on a few projects. In 1996 Bishop Grey started working with Grace Baptist Hour Ministries where he started working in radio and television. Not long after Bishop Grey was offered his own Radio program on WEED 1390 AM. In 2006 he met Pastor Earl Harrison the owner of WEOM 103.1 FM and cohosted Harrison Live. Later that year Pastor Harrison would help Rev. Grey start his own low power FM Gospel radio station, WTGC 98.9 FM. In 2010 Bishop Grey decided to sell the radio station and move back to the east coast to accept another pastoral assignment. Bishop Grey is the founder of Trinity Holy Church, Trinity Holy Church Conference & Trinity Virtual Church. He serves as the Presiding Bishop of Trinity Holy Church Conference and heads Trinity Virtual Church (trinityvirtualchurch.com) - trinityhc.org.

Since the pandemic Bishop Grey has had to reinvent how to do ministry. He is quoted as saying, We’ve got to change up how we have been doing things. My job as a preacher is not only to preach and sing the Gospel but to keep the people, I serve alive and safe. A lot of people talk about their rights, but God has let me know that with rights comes responsibility.  And we are all responsible for keeping each other safe. We should all be concerned about the wellbeing of others regardless of what your differences are.” He went on to say, “So the building might be closed but the church is still open! We are having more church now that what we ever did before. We’ve had to invent new ways of meeting  to preach the Gospel such as using the teleconference, which is what we use. We even learned to incorporate some of our music on the teleconference, which has caused me to really go back to my roots of quartet music and bring back a lot of songs I have not done in many years. My mind took me back to the way we used to sing". says Bishop Grey. "I’m working on a few projects now that features many of the songs that have been a part of my life down through the years. We took those songs and did our best to sing them the way I remember they used to be sung, and to bring the pure sound of gospel music back to the people. So, we are continuing on. We are moving forward and we are not going to stop now.”
